The Launch

It all started out a little overcast and cool Saturday, but soon the clouds were burning off and the sun was coming out.  A perfect day to launch a Pirate Barge.

This area shall have the Pirate Barge docked at the water’s edge from now on.

Uncle Mike O towed the barge over to the boat ramp.

Backing down the ramp. . .

Getting close to the water. . .

Hi Dad!

There was a strategy involving ropes Danny (on the far side) and Dad (right in front of me) to ensure the barge didn’t flat away forever. Maybe next time Danny and Dad could dress in slightly different clothes so they are a little easier to tell apart.  They must have coordinated this the night before. ; )

Just a few more inches. . .

And we have flotation!

Danny ended up jumping on and driving the thing first.  There was a big watery hole in front of Dad, so he wasn’t able to get on the barge right away.

But, Danny swung around a picked up Dad right away.

Dad even managed to wrangle the helm away from Danny in no time at all.

And then we all took boat rides and had a lot of fun.

The flag flies very nicely behind the barge.  All have been warned. This is a Pirate Barge!

Planned future additions to the barge include a canopy and a treasure chest.

You can see what the flag looks like unfurled here.

I know I was so nice to share with pop :)
